With this being a very challenging political year, the StrongLand Government and Chamber Clam Bake was very exciting for all who attended River Forest County Club on Thursday, April 28th, 2011 at 7 pm. Because of proposed state and federal budgetary adjustments to education, transportation, infrastructure, and taxes, there was plenty to talk about on a one-to-one basis. Even with all the controversy, the atmosphere was one of congeniality and respect for each other’s views. Marcellus Shale drilling kept coming up as the buzz word of the evening with the crowd divided between those who wanted to move forward with lightening speed and those who wanted to assume a demeanor of caution. It was quite a night with so many diverse views being presented on every side of each issue. When all was said and done, everyone felt that the evening lived up to its reputation as a time and place where networking and input could be intertwined to help our elected officials make up their minds on key issues. We wish to thank our major sponsor, Peoples Natural Gas Company for providing financial support for this worthwhile program, the Burrell Group for its help and for the promotional aid given by our Federation of Chambers. A special thanks goes out to the Arnold, Allegheny Valley, New Kensington, StrongLand and Armstrong Chambers for having provided prize items for the raffle. Below you will find some pictures from the Clam Bake and see all the fun that you missed.
